Safety & Security Coordinator - St. John's (NL)

We are currently looking for a dynamic person for the position of Safety & Security Coordinator for our St. John’s terminal. This position is responsible to overall enhance the safety culture of the St. John’s terminal by working with unionized and non unionized staff to foster an enhanced relationship and education and assist the Manager of Safety and Security in all activities associated with the OHSS and Environmental programs.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning and execution of internal and external training programs for unionized and non unionized personnel;
• Maintain an up to date database of completed training for unionized and non unionized staff;
• Assist departmental managers and supervisors in the completion of initial incident/accident reports;
• Conduct incident and accident investigations, as assigned;
• Facilitate and conduct safety and competency training for office, terminal and supervisory staff.
• Coordinate and conduct Safety and Security drills and exercises in support of Programs
• Respond to off site safety, environmental and compliance incidents when required;
• Support the management of Oceanex’s Hazard and Safety Recognition Programs;
• Conduct workplace inspections and internal audits of the OHSS system, as assigned;
• Prepare monthly OHS performance statistics (safety and worker competency training, Safety Behavior Observation Reporting, WHSCC claim information);
• Assist in managing workplace injury, disability and WHSCC case management (reporting, ESRTW Planning, monitoring);
• Provide advice and counsel to supervisory personnel on OHS procedures, standards and guidelines;
• Actively participate in the JOHS Committee activities.
• Research, recommend and complete revisions and enhancements to safety and security procedures and policies;
• Assist in the management and execution of the Oceanex Emergency Response Program;
• Assist in the management and execution of Oceanex Environmental Management Program (Land Based Operations);
• Perform other duties within the operations and compliance departments as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education from a recognized institution with a science, trades, engineering or business background along with successful completion of a safety diploma or degree program from a recognized and accredited institution or a combination of work related experience and education;
• Formalized training in auditing of accredited management systems (an asset);
• Knowledge of provincial and Federal safety regulations;
• 2-3 years experience in an OHS position in an industry setting;
• Experience working in the transportation and cargo shipment industry (an asset);
• Experience working in a union setting;
• Experience working with claims management;
• Computer literate.

V.P. Sales & Marketing - St. John's (NL) OR Montreal (QC)

Oceanex is currently searching for a strong V.P., Sales & Marketing. Based at our corporate office in St. John’s, NL (OR at our office in Montréal, QC depending on the candidate) and reporting to the Executive Vice-President, the V.P. Sales & Marketing plays a pivotal role in structuring and implementing strategic corporate and marketing plans, setting annual sales objectives and pricing strategy, measuring performance and developing new business opportunities. The incumbent also determines and implements sales initiatives to achieve corporate objectives, maximize sales volume and improve contribution margins.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Participate in the setting of annual and long-term corporate strategic objectives to ensure company growth and to take advantage of new business opportunities;
  • Prepare long-term strategic and marketing plans, develop sales forecasts and establish specific sales objectives. Monitor and make recommendations on pricing policies and rate structure;
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities. Monitor and report on competitive market changes, performance of freight contracts, seasonal movements and tenders. Monitor market shares;
  • Prepare annual revenue, volume and sales budgets. Set and monitor key performance expectations to ensure the attainment of sales and growth objectives;
  • Participate in industry conferences, represent the company in various associations and maintain wide contact base in the market place;
  • Participate actively in major contract negotiations. Visit key clients and maintain regular and close contact with all corporate accounts;
  • Maintain close working relationship with the individuals on the sales team. Develop and maintain high degree of collaboration at all levels between sales, finance, operations and customer service;
  • Perform administrative tasks necessary to effectively manage the company’s sales and growth efforts;
  • Ensure streamlined and timely monthly reporting on sales activities, pricing strategy, competition, new business and industry trends;
    Perform other duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree in administration, marketing or equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a senior management position in sales and marketing, preferably in an operational environment;
  • Experience in the transportation industry;
  • Experience in strategic planning;
  • Familiar with Industry Associations and Government liaison;
  • Knowledge of the Newfoundland and maritime market place (an asset);
  • Computer literate.

Analyst-Programmer - Montreal (QC)

The Analyst-Programmer participates in the maintenance of current applications and development of new applications of the main server (Power System). He / She also provide support to users.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Write, modify, integrate and test the programming code (mostly BACK-END);
• Eliminate bugs, correct programs and improve applications;
• Analyze users’ needs;

• Be a part of the support team on call 24/7, on rotation;

Qualifications

Pricing Supervisor - Montreal, QC

We are currently looking for a dynamic person for the position of Pricing Supervisor for our Montreal office.

Reporting to the VP Finance, the incumbent will be responsible to assists with the development and implementation of pricing strategies and pricing/contribution models in line with corporate objectives. He /she will supervise the Pricing Group and their processes, and liaises with Commercial and other departments.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Actively assist sales efforts through practice of exceptional customer service by focusing on relationship building;
  • Provide sales personnel with pricing data, terms and conditions, as requested;
  • Develop pricing/contribution models and assist with development of standard/competitive rate programs;
  • Maintain database of industry, competitor and market share information;
  • Assist with development of KPIs, and monitor dashboards/reports to ensure the Pricing Group meets its objectives;
  • Assist with rate requests from customers, and monitors timelines of all requests;
  • Determine rates for special projects, over-dimensional cargo and alternate routings, as required;
  • Coordinate the pricing/rate aspects for bids/proposals;
  • Investigate requests for rate adjustments (internal/external), identify discrepancies and implement corrective/preventive action(s);
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports and analyses;
  • Supervise the daily activities of the Pricing;
  • Continuously develops the Pricing Group with a vision towards continuous improvement;
  • Attend Commercial and Rating Meetings;
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Transportation or Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position;
  • Experience in the transportation industry;
  • Knowledge of AS400 (an asset);

Invoicing Coordinator - Montreal, QC

We are currently looking for a dynamic person for the position of Invoicing Coordinator at our downtown Montreal office, in the Finance Department.  Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the incumbent will be responsible to verify and validate data related to bookings in order to produce accurate invoices. This person also coordinates Invoicing Team members’ work and assists with validation of procedures and data as it relates to invoicing functions.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Verify and confirm information related to bookings to ensure accuracy in billing;
• Invoice processing-posting, printing, and ensuring customer documentation requests are respected;
• Manage all documentation related to invoicing, scanning, photocopying and sorting of documents;
• Enter data in the invoicing system and produce reports;
• Produce billing corrections or manual bills;
• Prepare/coordinate customer-specific invoices and account reconciliations/credit notes;
• When necessary, contact customers in order to confirm invoicing details;
• Coordinate staff responsibilities/deadlines and day-to-day supervision;
• Assist with problem resolution throughout the invoicing related processes;
• Assist with management of documentation concerning audit of invoices;
• Act as a contact person with colleagues of other departments;
• Perform other duties and projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent;
• Minimum of 3 years of office experience;
• Experience on AS/400 system (an asset);
